Preparation of pure Benzoic acid

Apparatus.

Beaker, tripod stand, Bunsen burner, matchbox, stirrer, filter paper and funnel.

250-centimeter cube, water and benzoic acid.

There are five steps to prepare pure benzoic acid.

1. I took 250 centimeter cube water in a 500 centimeter cube beaker.

2. I boiled the water and added the maximum amount of benzoic acid in the water to prepare a saturated solution.

3. Then I filtered the solution and obtained filtrate.

4. Then I cooled the filtrate and crystals of benzoic acid were prepared.

5. Then I filter the crystals by using filter paper and dry crystals in folds of filter paper.

I prepared pure and dry crystals of benzoic acid and showed them to the examiner.
